VOLUNTEERING DURING COVID-19

DURING COVID-19, PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU ARE VOLUNTEERING AT YOUR OWN RISK. EVERYONE MUST PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING AND CDC RECOMMENDED SAFETY PROTOCOLS. VOLUNTEERS MUST WEAR MASKS. VOLUNTEERS MUST BRING AND WEAR YOUR OWN GLOVES. ONLY 25 VOLUNTEERS ARE ALLOWED TO WORK ON THE FARM AT A TIME UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, OR APPROVED AGREEMENTS. WE HAVE HAND SANITIZER AND HAND WASHING STATIONS, BUT PLEASE BRING TRAVEL SIZE HAND SANITIZER IF POSSIBLE. DUE TO THE WEATHER, WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE TO PREVENT DEHYDRATION. PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL WATER BOTTLES HAVE CAPS ON THE DRINKING PORTION. 

IF YOU HAVE OR HAVE HAD A COUGH, SHORTNESS OF BREATH OR DIFFICULTY BREATHING, FEVER, CHILLS, HEADACHE, SORE THROAT IN THE LAST 2 TO 14 DAYS WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT VOLUNTEER AT THIS TIME. 

TLW (Truly Living Well) is a 501C3 nonprofit educational Center for Natural Urban Agriculture. We grow food, we connect people to the food, and we build equitable and sustainable food communities. It is our mission to grow better communities by connecting people with the land through education and training. Volunteers will be working together to complete farm tasks in order to keep the farm operating at peak level and its herbs and plants flourishing.


Tasks may include:

·         Weeding and cultivating beds

·         Filling raised beds with soil, planting of seedlings and watering

·         Mulch designated areas with wood chips

·         Processing compost

·         Harvesting and processing produce

·         Light landscaping

·         Other projects as needed

SPECIAL VOLUNTEER SKILLS REQUESTS: 

·         Arborist

·         Compost Person

Expectations during service:
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to serve. Any volunteers that are 16 or 17 years old, can only volunteer with a parent. Court ordered volunteers are permitted to serve (Please note: Individuals who have been convicted of or charged with any crime involving or relating to child abuse or neglect, child pornography, child abduction, or any other violent offense, including kidnapping, rape or any sexual offense, or who have ever been ordered by a court to receive psychiatric or psychological treatment in connection with such crime or crimes are NOT permitted to register on this site.).

Please bring a reusable water bottle, wear closed-toed shoes, work garden gloves, long pants, clothes that can get dirty and/or possibly muddy, hat/head covering to protect from constant exposure to sun, bug spray (deet free), and sunscreen. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a snack or light lunch. 

Farmers may be in the greenhouse at the south end of the farm and volunteers should enter at Westview entrance and meet at the volunteer table for sign in and for review of tasks. Our farmers and other staff are committed to providing a safe workspace and an attitude of productivity is important for projects/tasks to be completed successfully with mutual enjoyment. We promote environmental sustainability and recycling efforts by all in attendance. We are a non-smoking farm and facility. If you choose to smoke, we request you do so offsite.

Inclement Weather Advisory:
Our farm staff is prepared to work during light rains and volunteers should wear rain jackets. In the event of a thunderstorm forecasts (50% or higher), this volunteer opportunity will be immediately canceled for the protection and safety of all.
 

Transportation/Farm Sites:
Address of the Collegetown Farm is: 324 Lawton Street SW, Atlanta, GA 30310. Free parking is allowed on Sells and Lawton Streets and Westview Avenue. We recommend that you remove any valuables from site and lock your vehicles.
 

The Collegetown farm site is also accessible via MARTA West End Transit Station: routes #13 (Fair Street/Mozley Park) and #68 (Donnelly/Beecher) and arrive within two short-block walk to the farm.


As a volunteer, I agree to the terms and conditions of the volunteer opportunity. In connection with the voluntary involvement I have undertaken for, and with the participation and support of Truly Living Well Center For Natural Urban Agriculture (TLW) , a nonprofit organization, I hereby agree for myself, my heirs, assigns, executors and administrators, to release and discharge Truly Living Well Center For Natural Urban Agriculture (TLW) , its officers, directors, employees, agents, and volunteers from any and all claims, demands and actions for injuries sustained to my person and/or property as a result of my involvement in such activities, whether or not resulting from negligence, and I agree to release and hold TLW its officers, directors, employees, agents, and volunteers, harmless from any cause or action, claim or suit arising there from. I hereby attest that attendance and involvement in such activities is voluntary, that I am participating at my own risk and that I have read the foregoing terms and conditions of this release.

 

****Special Notice: For volunteers requiring a mandatory letter of confirmation for hours worked, please write an email request with your full name, contact phone number and total number of hours worked so that they can be verified. PLEASE ALLOW UP TO 5 BUSINESS DAY AFTER THE DAY OF COMPLETED HOURS AND A WRITTEN EMAIL REQUEST TO RECEIVE DOCUMENTATION. 

ALL VOLUNTEER HOURS CAN TAKE UP TO 5 BUSINESS DAYS TO BE VERIFIED, PLEASE PLAN YOUR SCHEDULE ACCORDINGLY.

can i volunteer even i don't have any of the skillsrequire ? i have never done anything like that beofre but i am very much interested in learning and volunteer.
