Virtual Service: Telephone Reassurance Calls to Seniors

Saturday, August 29th from 3:00pm to Saturday, September 5th, 2020 7:00pm (ET)

About

Due to the Public Health Emergency many seniors are staying home and can use a friendly call just to say hi and to check in on them to brighten their day. Student volunteers will call seniors to provide a friendly conversation.

The Department of Aging and Community Living (DACL) serves District residents 60 and older, adults living with disabilities, and those who care for them. In partnership with more than 20 community-based organizations across the city, we offer more than 40 free or low-cost programs to help all District residents live boldly at any age, stage, or ability. Through a variety of programs including community activities and events, nutrition and transportation services, healthcare and insurance counseling, caregiver support resources, and adult protective services, we are building a District where we can all thrive together in the communities we know and love.

Service will kick off on Saturday, August 29th at 12:00pm with an introduction to service from the Department of Aging and Community Living. The actual service, calling the seniors, will take place from 10:00am to 12:00pm on September 4th, please be free during that period. There will be small group reflection on September 5th at 12:00pm.
